Exam Time

The University year is approaching its end with the coming days containing the final exams for 2012. The students this year have had a hectic time with several days missed due to snow storms and several weeks missed due to earthquakes.

The ENSOC Committee wishes to say to all students, from the University of Canterbury who are leaving the student life, Congratulations. We hope you are all successful in your future endeavours.

Along with the students, who are leaving, will be the 2011 ENSOC Committee, A group of dedicated guys and girls who did an amazing job this year. This committee has helped redefine ENSOC as not just a social group but also as an organisation with both academic and community interests at heart. So we, the ENSOC 2012 Committee thank them for all their work and support during this year and we hope to hear good things about them all in the future.

Finally to everyone who is either starting at or returning to U.C. We have a big year ahead of us. With the rebuilding of the entrance to the Engineering Library and the construction of the new “Foundry” over summer, next year Canterbury will be an even better place to study.

So spend time recuperating over the holidays, get another summer of work experience under your belt and return to UC ready to take on next year’s challenges.

Now due next Friday 16th September.

Want some CASH MONEY instead of a scribble in red pen for your hard worked assignments?? The Templin Scroll Academic Competition is open to any student taking a regular course of study at the School of Engineering and who is a financial member of the Engineering Society. It is an award for the best technical report with the subject matter embracing any aspect of engineering or applied science. The scroll was first awarded in 1941 and the current prize pool is $2’500.00!! A healthy boost to the account before summer kicks in! The paper shall be written in a form suitable for publication or for submission as a project or design report, but postgraduate students may not present a paper directly relating to their field of research. We’ve extended the comp and completed papers or reports will be received until Friday 16th of September. Send to Nick Borren, faculty@ensoc.com

E3 – ENSOC Engineering Expo

Posted by | Filed under Social Events | Jun 28, 2011 | No Comments

ENSOC holds an annual careers expo to help engineering students get graduate and summer intern jobs. The event is held at the University of Canterbury in the Engineering Concourse and sees a huge number of students pass through. The expo is a great opportunity for students to talk to potential employers in a relaxed environment. It is also a good opportunity for younger students to gain advise on the engineering discipline to enroll in and for final year students considering postgraduate study.

In 2011 the event will be held on the 19th of July from 10:30am – 3:00pm. Places for participants are full, however if you are interested in gaining information about this event for future years, do not hesitate to get in contact with our Industry Rep at Industry@ensoc.com.

The concourse is in the centre of the engineering block, adjacent to the engineering quad. See the map for details on how to get there.
